Arbitrator says Tarnstrom should get $1.6M in 2005

As posted in SI.com an arbitrator ruled for a $1.6M contract for defenseman Dick Tarnstrom. The Penguins have 48 hours to decide what they are going to do. An announcement is expected Monday.

Seems reasonable to me.

I hope they sign him for that sum. That seems very reasonable for his talents. Even if they decide to trade him later for a more defensive d-man and/or a 2nd line center, they can't let him walk at that price.

The NHL FA tracker at sportsnet.ca is reporting that the Pens signed him.
