Malkin to Sign Soon?
According to reports, Stan Savran said on the radio yesterday that according to Russian labor law any employee can get out of a contract or job by giving a two-weeks notice. This includes hockey players, and it has been done before for other Russian players. The applies to the Evgeny Malkin situation.
This is one of the options that Craig Patrick is looking at, but the Pens really don't want to him to quit Magnitized Metallurgy (or whatever his current team's name is). They would rather have him released from Russia through some kind of agreement.
This team needs another centerman, and the longer we go without signing Stumpel the more it looks like Patrick has a plan to pay the ransom for Malkin. By the end of this month we will likely have the answers.
