OLN Opens NHL Coverage with Rangers vs Flyers
According to the channel's website, OLN begins their coverage of the NHL on 10/05/05 with the New York Rangers vs the Philadelphia Flyers.
So if you want to see Sidney Crosby's debut you'd better live in Pittsburgh or get NHL Center Ice (I've already put in my order).

What a bunch of crap. These teams are in big markets that have their own TV coverage. Everyone outside those two cities would much rather see Mario and Crosby on opening night. I don't have the extra money laying around to get Center Ice, so I guess I'll just follow it on the internet. It looks like the small markets will continue to be mistreated even though they can put equally good or better teams on the ice as compared to the big cities.
Well the Rangers do have Straka and Jagr, and the Flyers just signed Forsberg. Plus they are big market teams, with lots of fans.
If you look at it from OLN's viewpoint it isn't that terrible an idea.
Plus the game is in Philly where Comcast is familiar - they have their special camera and microphones set up. They have their usual announcers there. Let's see this first game and them we'll make a decision.
BTW, I watched Flyers games on Comcast when I lived in Stroudsburg. Comcast does a good job, I would say the video presentation was better than FSN, but they didn't have the audio of Mike Lange.
