Pens fall 3-2 in OT Shootout
In a sloppy game in which Mario and Crosby didn't play. The Pens got their first taste of the NHLs new shootout rule.
Pens took a 2-0 lead off of goals from Ryan Malone and Michel Ouellet. Columbus came back w/ two goals from Malhotra and Marchant.
Koltsov was the only Pen to get a goal in the shootout. Columbus got two off Zherdev and Balastik.
The other notable thing was the Pens had about 19 penalties forcing their penalty killers to be on the ice almost the entire game.

You can't really say it was a sloppy game just because there were a lot of penalties. There are going to be this many penalties for a while in the regular season until the guys learn not to obstruct.
The great news about this game is that we played with a bunch of no-names and hanged tough against Columbus who played most of their good players I think.
If the new NHL is going to require guys who can skate, then the Pens have a glut of young fast guys who can fly around. These guys are also good at killing penalties as evidenced last night.
The big named will play in the next preseason game which will be Wednesday I think.
