No Cigar...

In a classic addition to the Pens vs Flyers rivalry, the Pens spot Philly a 5-1 lead then battle back to tie the game with the help of a goal and an assist by Crosby, a fluke goal off a face off from Maxime Talbot and a couragous perfomance in relief from Sebastion Caron.
They weren't, however able to overcome a two man disadvantage and two broken sticks in the OT period and walk away with their 4rth consecutive OT loss.
The negatives:
- Slow start
- Penalties
- Everyone on Defense except Caron
The positives:
- Crosby is the real deal
- 4 Consecutive OTs means they are close
- The Pens have yet to win a game yet they are tied for second in the Atlantic division.
Caron should be the #1 Goaltender

No way should Caron be our #1. Thibault has not played great, but he is a very good starting caliber NHL goalie. Fleury also had a bad game last night, but was our best goalie through the preseason and has looked great with the exception of the Flyers game. He would easily have Caron's roster spot if not for his big contract incentives if he stays up. They also want him to get more consistent playing time in the minors, but the money is a bigger reason. Either way, Caron is our 3rd best option as a starting goalie day in and day out.
Thibault played in one game and he was hardly great giving up long rebound after long rebound.
I doubt the contract incentive has much to do with MAF. If he was ready they wouldn't have wasted the money on signing Thibault in the off season and instead gone with MAF and Caron and left Chiodo in WBS.
I don't know how, watching the three anyone can say that Caron is the third best option. He's definitely the most solid at goal at least through the first 6 games. And give the lack of defense the rest of the team is playing we need the most solid option in there to get wins.
Caron may have played OK over a short period, but he is no better than a backup in the NHL. Should the Devils sit Brodeur because he had a bad game or if he has two bad games in a row? Thibault will play because they paid him the big money and because he has proven that he can be a starter at this level. MAF is absolutely in the minors because of money. The team has admitted it before. They have also said that he was the best goalie throughout training camp. Why would you send your best goalie through camp to the minors? It really doesn't matter who is in net for this team right now becasue they don't play any semblance of defense, but Thibault is the most proven and MAF is the most talented. Caron is a backup and nothing more.
