Olczyk Out..Therrien In
TSN reports that the Pens have fired Edzo and his entire staff. Michel Therrien from the WBS Baby Pens will take over. A press conference has been called this morning.
This is sad news, not because the Pens didn't need a change, but because Edzo by all reports is a good person and worked extremely hard and was ultimately done in by a poor mix of players who didn't give him the effort he deserved.

Therrien was interviewed by Stan Savarn on earlier today. Highlights from the interview:
- The first thing that he stressed was that the Penguins cannot allow the opponents as many shots on goal as they have been allowing.
- Players have to have the will to execute his system. Those that don't won't last too long.
- It will definietly help that 9 players from the club have played in his system in the past.
- They have to change the attitude of this hockey team
- Mario will play on a line with Crosby

It looks like the entire WBS staff was called up. None of the Pens guys will work in the NHL again except for the strength guy and maybe Edzo. Edzo will stay with the organization in an unknown capacity.
I expect this team to start winning immediately. Apparently all the young guys who played under Therrien said he is a great coach. Though if he sucked I doubt they would say so, but wins don't lie and WBS has a ton of them even though we kept taking their best players.
Well, I love your optimism, even if I don't quite share it. And as my dad liked to ponder, what ever made Randy Hillier an expert on defense?
