TSN Speculates on Pens Trade Deadline Moves

TSN.ca speculates that the Pens may move Recchi and/or Leclair by the March 9th deadline. Recchi wants to stay in Pittsburgh. Not sure what trading him will do other than dump his salary. Not sure who would want Leclair (or why at this point).

I don't expect the Pens to be very active at the deadline. Everyone they have is either a young prospect that you wouldn't want to trade or an aging vet that no one would want.

Maybe someone will see something in Gonchar in the Olympics that will make them interested in him, otherwise, I don't see many moves for CP.

Malkin contributing to Russia's Oympic Team

Despite playing on a team w/ Sergei Gonchar (who took 6 shots and was a +1), young Pens prospect Evgeny Malkin is contributing on a veteran laden Team Russia in the Torino games. Today he set up to only goal in a 1-0 shut out of Kazakhstan. He also assisted on a goal in their 5-0 romp of Sweden earlier in the week.

Malkin currently has 49 points playing for Magnitogorsk in the Russian Super League.
