TSN.ca reports that the Pens have hired Ray Shero to a 5 year deal to GM the Pens.

Shero is 43 and has been an assisant GM for the Preds for 8 years.

Toronto-Based Entrepreneur Considering Penguins Bid

From today's "Sports Business Journal"...

Toronto entrepreneur Dave Fingold and his son, Sam, have “reviewed the Penguins’ financial books and are poised to make a bid to buy” the team, with a plan to move it to K.C. “if an agreement for a new hockey rink in Pittsburgh isn’t completed,” according to Rick Westhead of the TORONTO STAR. Sam Fingold said, “What we would get with the Penguins would be an affordable franchise and a portable one. We think this could be a great investment.” Neither Fingold “would say whether their family has other financial partners,” but Sam Fingold said, “We’d be doing this mostly with family money.” Sam Fingold noted that the Penguins could move to “a more attractive market such as” K.C. if the team’s arena financing partner, Isle of Capri Casinos, does not receive a Pennsylvania slots license (TORONTO STAR, 5/8).
